Sports Taping
Sports taping (or athletic taping) is used to aid muscle movement. It’s a thin, flexible tape that is meant to relieve pain, reduce swelling and inflammation, provide awareness for posture, and provides support to joints and muscles. The tape recruits blood vessels in a way that helps place blood flow where the tape is applied. The result is increased oxygen and decreased inflammation and swelling. The tape can also be used to help the body’s lymphatic system drain waste products like lactic acid, which muscles produce. This helps muscles perform better for longer periods. In addition, the tape slightly lifts skin, to provide extra space for swollen muscles. -Medical News Today
Cupping Education
In dry cupping the cups can be used at rest or with movement. Cupping increases blood circulation at the point of the injury. Proponents say the increased circulation reduces tension and spasms, and can promote cell repair through improved blood flow, specifically chronic pain in the low back and neck. People who use it report reduced pain and disability, and increase range of motion. -Sara Pesut, PT, DPT
Customized YouTube videos
I maintain a YouTube channel for clients to learn new exercises, learn proper form, and workout on the days we are not together. They are customized to each clients’ needs and wants as well as access to specific pieces of equipment.
Acupressure
Acupressure can help reduce muscle tension, relieve pain, and more. Targeting different pressure points can promote various types of healing such as treat neck pain, back pain, headaches, and insomnia. It offers a natural alternative or complementary treatment option to traditional treatments.
Research has found that applying pressure to certain areas of the body can stimulate certain nerves that help reduce the sensation of pain. In addition, it reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol; increases levels of endorphins (chemicals that boost mood and reduce feelings of pain). Finally, it improves blood circulation. -Medical News Today
